Playchoice PCB Specifications

This chart illustrates each of the Playchocie game board types, the games associated with each and details about their ROMs.

View my detailed Playchoice PCB and NES Hack Specifications Spreadsheet (80 KB)

Important Notes:

  • To swap Playchoice and NES compatible games, replace the PRG and CHR chips with the appropriate replacement chips.
  • The PC10-ID should not be removed from the game board. It contains the game title and description that appears on the Playchoice menu screens. It is also accessed by the game board security chip. The game board will not work if this chip is replaced.
  • The specified chip names and file sizes are useful when determining which NES games may be compatible with the game boards.
  • "PAR Category" is the name I use in this site to describe a group of similar and compatible game boards. If this field is labeled "n/a", then to my knowledge, the game is not compatible with any other Playchoice or NES game.
  • Solder points are one of the major elemets that determine which game boards are compatible with each other. Games that have the same board type and have the same solder points are compaible with each other and can share games. If you know how to do light soldering, you can change a game board's solder points, making it compatible with other games.
